KIRKWOOD Homes has announced proposals for 150 new homes to be built in Broughty Ferry.

The luxury housebuilder has, along with Linlathen Developments (Tayside) Ltd, submitted plans for the Balgillo Heights development, which will be located to the East of Dundee. The site will include a mix of three bedroom terraced and three, four and five bedroom detached homes.

As part of the development, Kirkwood said it will introduce village green spaces “to build and enhance the distinct character and identity of the area”. The first homes could be offered for sale early next year.

Through the Local Development Plan, Kirkwood Homes confirmed it is also in discussion with Dundee City Council and the landowner in respect of “long term opportunities” for the area.

Kirkwood said the proposed development is part of the company’s plans to extend its offering from a predominantly North East of Scotland focus to other areas of the country.

Allan Rae, Kirkwood Homes land director, said, “We are looking forward to, once again offering our luxury, high quality homes and address the current demand for housing in the area. In the past six years we have developed a wider range of house types to suit anyone from a first-time buyer to a growing family and this has been reflected in our plans for this community. We have also taken into account and reflected in our plans submitted for the site aspects such as traffic, education and community facilities.

“Broughty Ferry is a highly desirable location and over the last year we have worked closely with officers in Dundee City Council to ensure that our plans reflect their aspirations for the site in terms of design, layout and housing mix.”
